The Brooklyn Nets (27/13) defeated the Miami Heat (21/20) 102:101 (31:30, 35:34, 13:18, 23:19) in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Jimmy Butler put the Heat ahead 101:100 with a minute to play and then the two teams traded unsuccessful possessions. The Nets had 10 seconds for their last possession and although Kyrie Irving made a bad shot, Royce O'Neale rebounded the ball on the offensive end and pulled out a 102:101 victory.
There was little joy for Brooklyn, however, as Butler fell on Kevin Durant's knee at the end of the third quarter and the game was over.
"The injury is to his right knee and he will be evaluated tomorrow. I can't give any more specific information at the moment," Nets head coach Jacque Vaughn said immediately after the game.
Durant had scored 17 points (4/8 doubles, 1/3 three-pointers, 6/7 fouls) before his injury and his Brooklyn team was led to victory by Irving, who scored 29 points (4/6 doubles, 6/15 three-pointers, 3/4 fouls), had one rebound, one steal, six assists, one turnover and one foul.
